Erick Mas

Born in Lima, Peru and graduated as a Civil Engineer from the National University of Engineering (UNI) in Peru. Dr. Mas worked on Civil Defense and Disaster prevention offices at local and regional governments in Peru. He has a Master degree on Disaster Risk Management and Sustainable Development at UNI and a PhD. from the Tsunami Engineering Laboratory of Tohoku University. 
Dr. Mas' research interests are focussed on agent based modeling, tsunami numerical simulation and remote sensing for damage estimation. In addition, he is involved in research on the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) for disaster research. 
Within DIM2SEA, Dr. Mas is in charge of leading the Japanese team and at the same time is responsible for the development of damage assessment models that include earthquake building damage estimation, tsunami building damage estimation and human loss by means of GIS, numerical simulations and agent based modeling.
